300 silver Hong Kong Plague Medals were given to the Shropshire Light Infantry (British Army) for their assistance in combatting the plague which swept through Hong Kong in 1894 with more than 2500 prople dying within a 3 month period. The medals were presented by the Hong Kong Community.
The International Plague Conference Memorial Medal was issued with a claw suspender and a red / white (or silver) ribbon. A very nice medal and usually sells around HK$12000 in the UK.
